Yes fans, it's true. It is now possible to not only watch the races but to enjoy them from the comfort of your own signature series leather furniture endorsed by the drivers themselves. You've got to be kidding you say? Not at all. Racing Furniture has capitalized on the hottest sport going right now and produced a line of leather furniture that not only feels great but is made to extremely high standards. Assuming you're a race fan, this furniture can be proudly displayed and used in the most discerning home. Seriously. Started by J. Brown Council in 2001, the company has a rich history of expertise and talent behind it. Brown Council was one of the driving force (pardon the pun) behind the success of Councill Furniture Company in the 90's. Designs include sofas and chairs under license from Jeff Gordan, Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick.

When you're ready to step into the sophisticated world of designer contemporary furniture Recherche would be a great place to start looking. Wood, metal, sculpted and sofa tables are offered as works of art that stand out for their stark simplicity like the Bilbao sculpted tables or their bold design elements like the Watagua wood tables. Recherche is a medium to upper end product in construction and price. I got a great quote from Reyne Lindner, the VP of Marketing and Media, "We at Recherche’ Limited take great pride in our unique table designs which are not likely to be found anywhere else. All of our tables are manufactured right here in North Carolina. Our custom finishes utilize a number of colors and techniques, all of which work together to create visual depth and interest. These finishes are hand applied and thus each piece is distinctive. These features along with the array of shapes and sizes make our tables a center point for any room."

Lower price alternative to Ekornes. Each frame is powder coated in an environmentally-friendly, dry-finishing process. They use Top Grain Leather and fabrics and offer easily replaceable cushions which extends the life of the product. Options include: side panels, wood arms, base covers, and a custom installed vibrating motor heat and massage unit. Although Relax-R is not a direct competitor of Ekornes, (Ekornes has numerous design patents, awards and exclusive processes which put it in a comfort and quality league of its own) Relax-R offers the same kind of look at a lower price. A price mainly due to their dealers not being required to maintain a set price such as minimum retail.

RICHARDSON BROTHERS
PO Box 907, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085.
(920)467-4631, Fax (920)467-3850
In 1848, company founder Joseph Richardson began clearing land at his new homestead in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin with the intention of farming. He had an opportunity to acquire the saw milling machinery enabling him to process and sell the logs he was clearing, and soon decided he preferred the lumber business to agriculture.

Several years later, in addition to selling raw lumber, he began making wood products and selling those, too. These products became more and more sophisticated until by the late 1800’s he and his sons were making and selling fine furniture. Now, more than 150 years later, Richardson Brothers Company is part of a diverse yet focused corporation called Richardson Industries.

Along with the Richardson Brothers brand of solid wood dining and bedroom furniture, the corporation also makes roof and floor trusses under the Richco name, does wood treating from Richardson Wood Preserving, maintains three commercial lumber yards in Sheboygan county, selling building materials and kitchen cabinets, along with home design services. And finally, they run a full line retail furniture store in Sheboygan Falls.
The common thread throughout all of these varied ventures is this: each has something to do with the home; designing it, building it, and ultimately furnishing it. This is the symbiotic relationships between company divisions that enables each one to excel, since they understand the larger relationship their products ultimately play in improving the quality of life for their customers.
Through all this, the company has maintained a reputation for solid wood furniture that gives the consumer a great value- a lot of furniture for a fair price. Over the years they have continued that tradition and expanded their line to include bedroom and bar stools. They haven’t tried to be all things to everyone which allows them to keep refining and perfecting their line so that you get more and more value. The Country Oak Collection is a beautiful solid oak classic country look that can even fit in a transitional setting. This is a very versatile group with enough tables, chairs and hutches to choose from that you can outfit a tiny kitchen or a huge dining room that will seat twelve. From dining to bedroom, as well as 75 occasional pieces all their collections are crafted from a wide variety of the industry's finest hardwoods, including: cherry, oak, maple, birch, pine, walnut, beech and South American Pearlwood.

Medium priced clocks in traditional to contemporary styles. It is hard to find a clock in this price/quality range. Most are either much more expensive or just cheap junk. Ridgeway uses German movements, long noted for reliable long-lasting products. Most of the Grandfather clocks have a moving moon dial, the history of which is very interesting. Back in the 1600's when the moon dial first appeared, people needed to know when the full moon would be out, so travel at night was not as hazardous. In the 1700's settlers gauged crop rotation based on the lunar calender. Oh, back to Ridgeway. Grandfather, wall clock and some mantle clocks.

Riverside furniture is everywhere. Department stores, discount stores, full service stores, mom and pop stores. It’s no wonder, they carry so many products, a store can’t miss. The quality is promotional to medium depending on the collection. With any furniture in this price range you can make it last a lifetime if you will follow a few simple rules. Be extra careful of the drawers and doors, they won’t take a lot of abuse. Don’t overload shelves or stuff drawers too full. DON’T push large pieces from the top, always push them at floor level or pick them up. Hey, you do that and this furniture will last you forever. Some of their collections are actually made quite well and can compete with furniture selling for much more- collections like the Sutter’s Mill" and their "Anniversary Collection." Riverside is a great source of home office furniture for those on a budget who still want to have a professional appearance. They carry roll top desks, computer desks, file cabinets, credenzas, computer work stations and bookcases. Riverside also has quite an extensive line of occasional furniture from contemporary to traditional. They also carry curio cabinets, home entertainment and banker’s chairs. Riverside now offers upholstery in traditional designs. They are making promotional to medium priced products with a limited fabric selection.

RIVERWOOD CASUAL
AL 632 Dixon Street
Lexington, NC 27292
Tel: 877.763-9773
Riverwood Casual has manufactured indoor/outdoor, casual furniture in Lexington, North Carolina (the heart of the North American furniture industry) since 1998. Focusing on the classic Adirondack-style chair, a timeless, proven design over 100 years old. All coatings are made of 100% environmentally friendly, acrylic resins that are the standard for premium exterior coatings. However, the surface integrity on any wood product left out in the elements is dependent on the degree of exposure. Use of this product in environments with substantial temperature fluctuations, moisture, and saltwater will over time take their toll on wood. Users should expect some swelling, discoloration, and minimal surface cracks or splits due to environmental changes. These are natural occurrences and should not be considered as defects. Cypress is a naturally decay-resistant wood with high paint retention characteristics and is harvested from the coastal plain forests of the southeastern United States. Because of its resistance to moisture, this renewable resource has many outdoor uses, such as decking, docks, porch flooring, greenhouses, siding, and stadium seats. One of the most popular uses of cypress is for outdoor furniture. All bolts, washers and nuts are made of stainless steel and will never rust or stain wood, they are hidden from the elements in protected pockets or holes so that water does not stand in holes. Due to the natural movement of wood, fasteners need to be tightened from time to time. All pre-assembled joints are screwed and glued with weather resistant glue. Riverwood Casual offers a limited, one year warranty that the furniture will be free from defects of material or workmanship. The company will repair or replace any piece of furniture found to be defective. Care Instructions: Monthly, wipe furniture with a soft cloth dipped in a mild soap and water solution to remove dust, dirt, and surface mold; wipe again with a soft cloth dipped in clear water; and wipe dry with soft cloth. If your product has cushions, clean the acrylic fabrics with mild soap and water. The Riverwood Casual website was used for content information.

I don't like to feature retail stores because this magazine focuses on the brands you see, not the retailers who promote them. However, Rooms To Go is unique in that they have become a vertical market unto themselves, similar to Ethan Allen. That means, they buy the furniture direct from the people who make it, most of it imported, they warehouse it and then distribute it all over the country to their own stores. Rooms To Go truly is a marvel of the entrepreneurial spirit and can be congratulated for their success. Consumers should be aware though that when you are in a Rooms To Go store, there is no way to compare the quality of their furniture other than the claims they put on it. You cannot compare brand to brand because they are their own brand. The best way to know if you are getting a true value is to shop your Rooms To Go store, then look at furniture in other stores of similar price and discern from that what kind of quality you will get for the money you spend.

Quarter-sawn red oak Arts & Crafts and Mission style furniture. You fans of this style know that it is a uniquely American contribution to the furniture industry. The Mission style grew out of the southwest and west coast and Arts & Crafts is a revival movement of the 1870's. First introduced through interest in the paintings and writings of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, artists and craftsmen were selling their designs in the creative centers of Boston and Cincinnati. Oscar Wilde played a large part in raising nationwide interest in the style when he toured the country in 1882. By 1890 the unique look and techniques of the movement were becoming trendy among American architects and was showing up in the homes of America's most influential and affluent homeowners. It is interesting to note that the children who grew up in these fashionable homes would one day help make Gustav Stickley a household name. Now you can carry on a piece of history and create your own tradition through Royal Craftsman's furniture. Choose from bedroom, dining room, home office, occasional, entertainment centers and leather upholstery.
