One of the true hidden gems in the leather upholstery industry, they make their product according to the same standards as you will find at the upper middle of the industry. 8-way hand tied springs, 1.8 density foam cushions wrapped in dacron and muslin, 5/4 plywood frames, premium batting and insulation material. The styles offered focus on the traditional although there are many transitional looks available. The best part is the price. I'm not real big on Chinese imports UNLESS the lower price reflects a consistent quality, which I believe they offer.

Pawley's Island is a division of "The Hammock Source." When you see travel ads featuring beautiful models blissfully soaking up a warm afternoon on a tropical island while sipping their little umbrella drinks they are probably relaxing in a Pawley's Island hammock. You can become one of the beautiful people yourself by simply booking a flight to any of the world's top resorts, places where you're likely to find Pawley's Island hammocks. Or, you can send me the tickets, buy your own hammock and set it up in your back yard. I recommend a couple commercial grade fans and flood lamps suspended above the trees for the "tropical sun and breeze" effect.

What makes the difference between the beatiful rooms we see in magazines and model homes, and what we experience in the "real world?" It's the extras. The accessories, the paint schemes, and yes, the fabrics. Beautiful creative fabrics that drape and cover, or showcase and highlight. Peacock Alley makes some of the most wonderful bedding and bath accessories you'll find. You have to visit their website to see what a wonderful creative line this is.

An upper end upholstery company. It rates among the top companies because of its hand-made nature, its choice of fabrics and frames, the availability of options, the construction of the frames and spring systems and its customer support. Designs range from traditional to contemporary and choice of covers ranges from simple cottons to jacquards, fringes, cordings, custom trims and leather. They offer a good assortment of occasional and accent chairs, complementing accent and occasional tables. Be very careful to shop their catalogs thoroughly, Pearson offers its dealers a number of options that can save you a tremendous amount of money. If the dealer buys certain styles or fabric combinations throughout the year they can qualify for programs that give the consumer a real break in price. Quality doesn’t change, just the price. It is a great deal for the factory, the dealer and the consumer. Be sure to ask your decorator or salesperson to get you the best option from Pearson

Some companies have a name which makes you think whatever they're selling, it's probably going to be good. Like "Great Expectations Theme Park" or "Cannibal River Canoe Adventures." How about Pelican Reef? I'd guess clothing or outdoor gear. How about wicker and rattan? That works! Most beach homes I've been in had some kind of wicker or rattan in the house. It holds up great and it makes everything feel like it belongs. Of course, wicker and rattan aren't just for the beach, but with a name like Pelican Reef you can't help but wonder if relaxing times aren't just around the corner. Features: living room, bedroom, dining room, wall units and accessories.

Now known by the name: Statesville Chair Casegoods. Beautiful 18th century reproductions in Wild Black Allegheny Cherry and Honduran mahogany. PA Classics is an upper-end manufacturer producing high quality at a reasonable price. The bedroom features wood dust dividers and finished wood backs attached by screws. All drawers are oak with smooth dove-tailed hand sanded corners with waxed interiors. The dining room collection has "hand set" beveled glass doors, mirrored inside back panels, solid lacquered brass hardware and locks. All the chinas feature "touch and glow" dimmer controls for ease of use. You will appreciate the selection of occasional tables for their beautiful proportions and design. You could outfit your entire home with PA Classics or find just the one perfect piece you have needed for years. They offer three finishes, a dark rich red developed for its authenticity, a conventional medium tone called Stafford that is the most common, and then a very important finish called Richmond Park. It is only available on mahogany and consists of extra steps necessary to fill in the graining so prominent in mahogany. This is the only way to get the "glassy smooth" surface that looks like a mirror. And, it should be noted, this is not a natural normal finish for mahogany. You can choose from Queen Anne or Chippendale hardware. We can’t forget the office collection from PA Classics. This is a very elegant presentation designed for the executive who just has to look like a million bucks. It includes everything for an office including conference table, returns and bookcases.

The Philip Reinisch Company started in 1932 specializing in occasional tables. In the late 40's the sons of Philip Reinisch, Stanford and Richard, came into the business and by the mid-50's their Father retired and passed on the responsibility of management. The Reinisch factory, then located in Escanaba, Michigan made tables of solid birch, maple and oak. Eventually operations were moved to Henderson, Kentucky to take advantage of plentiful labor and raw materials. By the end of the 70's they were specializing in curio cabinets. Lots of them, in every style and color. Today, it is all they do, so I feel fairly certain you should be able to find what you want.

Quilts, bedding, pillows & throws, sleepwear and some upholstery. The upholstery will be built by Lee Industries. "Founded in 1994 by Annie Selke on her dining room table, Pine Cone Hill is an important wholesaler of a distinctive line that includes quilts, sheeting, rugs, blankets, table linens, and other decorative bedding. The line combines Annie's extraordinary sense of design and color inspired, in part, by her extensive collection of antique textiles and patterns. Pine Cone Hill products are sold in many major home catalogs and more than 2500 high-end specialty stores across the country. Annie's husband Whitney is also her business partner, overseeing the operations and sourcing side of the business. He matches Annie's designs with the most suitable purveyors, assuring consistent quality in the Pine Cone Hill line. In 2000, Annie created a line of table linens and quilts for Potluck Studios, widely admired for its colorful high-end flowerpots and dinnerware. This new line was so successful that Annie joined forces with Karen Skelton, Potluck's founder. In 2002, Karen joined the Pine Cone Hill/Potluck Studios creative department and the pottery studio was relocated to the Company headquarters in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Over the past two years, Annie has added personal accessories, custom furniture, sleepwear, and the Wholesome Home/Wholesome Body line of personal and home care products. In 2002 the Company opened a 6,000 square-foot outlet store in nearby Lenox, Massachusetts that sells Pine Cone Hill and Potluck overstocks and seconds." From the Pine Cone Hill Web Site

Pride outdoor furniture is made in a 300,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Costa Rica. I've been to Costa Rica and anytime they want me to come down and personally check out the factory, I'm on the next jet. But I digress. Deciding on who to buy outdoor furniture from is very confusing because there are literally dozens of companies, and the quality ranges from superior to just pure junk. Most of the stuff you see in department stores and super stores falls into the last category. Pure junk, imported from who knows where with one thing in mind, low low price to beat the competitor down the street. Unless you go specifically to a pool and patio store, or a quality furniture store, you aren't going to get durable furniture that will last for many many seasons. Pride is one of those companies. The aluminum is rust-free, aircraft grade with internal wall structure. The factory claims it is 30% thicker than their competition, but I don't know who that comparison is against. I can tell you that their full circumfrence welding and hand ground, hand buffed and polished joints indicate a finishing process that puts them in a ranking with some of the top names in the business. They have a good warranty.

There's a line from a campy spy movie, "If I told you what I did for a living I'd have to kill you."? Private Label is kind of like that. They make medium quality furniture for stores that want to carry their own brand. The store obviously can't have a master craftsman in the back, hand making your sofa to order. So they do the next best thing. They get Private Label to make it, put the store's name on it, and voila, instant quality with the store's name on it.

The list of products Pulaski carries makes it sound like they are actually three or four companies in one. You’re not too far off. To get the full picture you have to sit down with their catalog, (bring a hand truck to move it) and spend a couple hours just flipping through the pages. You will find curios and collectors cabinets, corner cabinets, consoles, mirrors and bedroom, gem chests, hall trees, entertainment centers, armoires, bookcases and home office, screens and hand painted items, accessories and various accent pieces. They have one of the largest collections of curio and display cabinets in the world. Their choices in style will offer something for everyone. Console chests are used as accent pieces in a bedroom, guest room, hallway or living room. They are usually fancy or decorated, can often be bombe style, 18th century or french. It is really hard to find a good hall tree anymore. Actually, there just aren’t that many people who use them. But you figure, if only 1/10 of 1% of the population liked them that is still tens of thousands of hall trees. So where can you get one? Pulaski. One of Pulaski’s strong areas is painted furniture. You can get entertainment centers, consoles, cabinets, screens, armoires all with a variety of wonderful scenes.
